Job Description

Avinodos is looking for enthusiastic and motivated intern/co-op individual to work closely with the owner and winemaker to join our seasonal harvest team in all aspects of harvest and cellar operations.  Interns will be expected to participate in every aspect of the wine making including fruit processing, barrel work and fermentation management. We are looking for interns that are passionate about wine, motivated, hardworking and safety conscious.
 Our ideal candidate would have previous experience but we can train the right person. We are a small boutique winery that produces about 3000 cases per year with a focus on Sauvignon Blanc, Cabernet, Zinfandel and Malbec wines. We are a small team of well organized, positive, hard-working folks who focus on keeping quality at the highest level while being efficient in the process and thorough in our winemaking.
 We require availability to work 20-30 hours per week over 6 days a week from September through December. Must be flexible to work any day of the week and any shift. Pay dependent upon experience.

• Under moderate supervision, performs Wine Cellar and Barrel Room tasks.
• Wine movements - set-up and movement of wine and juice to and from tanks, barrels and tanker trucks.

• Make additions to wine and juice after a confirmation of the calculations by a Cellar Supervisor or Manager.

• Operate pumps, plate and frame filters, hoists, and other Cellar equipment.

• Measure and calculate routine workplace data.
•       Cleaning and sanitizing Cellar fittings, hoses, fixed process lines, tanks, barrels, and grape and wine processing equipment.
•       Follow safe operating procedures, support safety programs and policies to safeguard personal safety, winery property, environmental and team member's safety.

 Preferred Skills
•  Accurately measure, prepare and make additions to juice, must, & wine
•  Ability to recognize and report off aromas in tanks
•  Filtration
•  Forklift Operation
•  Operation of mechanical mixers
•  Working conditions in certain areas of the winery can be cold/hot, wet, slipper and noisy
•  Flexible hours, weekends will be required during grape harvest
•  Handling materials and frequent walking, including going up and down stairs and ladders, dragging wine hoses and bending are required
•  Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
•  The physical requirements listed are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the key responsibilities/essential functions
