The duties described are for the full-performance level. At developmental grade levels, assignments will be of more limited scope, performed with less independence and limited complexity.

The duties may include, but are not limited to:

Plans and conducts, in whole or in part, economic studies of the dairy industry, including the Federal milk marketing order program.
Develops, collects, and analyzes domestic and international marketing information related to the dairy industry and organizes such data for use by Dairy Programs in decision-making.
Prepares tables charts, graphs, and maps for inclusion in analytical reports.
Recommends and implements statistical and analytical techniques, including econometric methods.
Participates in the development, maintenance, and enhancement of economic models to support the mission of Dairy Programs.
Writes economic analyses, working papers, briefing papers, and talking points to support the mission of Dairy Programs.
Provides conclusions and projections of the dairy market outlook; and offers policy recommendations, based on sound economic analysis
Reviews writings of other Dairy Programs Economists, writings from other branches of Dairy Programs (briefing papers, regulations, etc.), dairy-related writings from other agencies, and writings of contractors.

Key Requirements
US Citizenship is required.
Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.
Subject to satisfactory completion of one year probationary period.
Applicants must meet all qualifications and eligibility requirements by the closing date of the announcement including the following specialized experience and/or education, as identified by grade level.

BASIC REQUIREMENT:  Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor’s or higher degree that included a degree in economics, agricultural economics, or the equivalent; and included at least 21 semester hours in economics, accounting, or calculus; and 3 semester hours in statistics.
