Joel Gott Wines is looking for 2 motivated harvest interns for dynamic roles assisting the winemaking team in all aspects of wine and grape analyses and production. This is a unique harvest experience! The interns will have the ability to work in both the lab and the cellar, gaining a broad harvest experience with exposure to vineyard sampling, fruit processing, sample analyses, production operations, and fermentation/analysis tracking.
The ideal candidates will be highly organized with a strong attention to detail and positive attitude. These flexible roles will allow two people to switch back and forth between the lab and cellar and gain a comprehensive understanding of the winemaking process.
Receive and process vineyard samples for analysis.
Prepare vineyard samples for tasting.
Analyze vineyard samples on Oenofoss. Perform pH, TA, Brix and nutritional analysis and maintain results in MS Excel.
Daily data entry into vineyard database and accurate communication of results to the winemaking team.
Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
Pull tank and barrel samples.
Monitor brix and temperatures, enter fermentation analysis into winemaking database.
Transport samples and products between facilities.
Assist in setting up lab trials and tastings.
Analyze must and wine samples on OenoFoss and coordinate outside lab analysis.
Assist in general cellar duties: fruit receiving, pumpovers, punchdowns, rack and returns, cleaning and sanitizing.
BS in Enology/Chemistry, or equivalent experience.
Previous harvest experience. Familiarity with winemaking practices.
Hard working, ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
Good observation and analytical skills, highly proficient in MS Excel.
Ability to work flexible long hours, weekends. Ability to lift and carry up to 50lbs.
Exposure to production equipment and cellar environment.
Valid CA driverâ€™s license and clean DMV report required.
