|Company Name||Macari Vineyards|
|Company Description|| Macari Vineyards, located on the North Fork of Long Island in Mattituck, New York, is owned and operated by the Macari Family. The winery is led by owners Joseph Macari Jr., who is at the helm of the winery with his wife, Alexandra and their children. Though Macari Vineyards was established in 1995, the Macari Family has owned the 500-acre waterfront farm for over fifty years. Joseph Macari, Jr. is recognized as a pioneer in the movement towards natural farming on Long Island, employing biodynamic principals since the vineyard’s first plantings. The biodiversity of the Macari family farm – including a heard of Texas Long Horns and fields of compost – create an extraordinary grape growing environment.
The Macari winemaking team is led by Kelly Koch from St. Helena, California. Kelly received a Bachelor of Science from University of California, Davis in Viticulture and Enology with a minor in French. She has worked at a number of prestigious wineries including Beringer Vineyards and Bouchaine Vineyards in California and Maison Louis Jadot in France. Kelly arrived to the North Fork of Long Island in 2006 and has since been honored with many winemaking awards and recognitions including top recognition from Wine Spectator, Wine Advocate, Wine Enthusiast, and Wine & Spirits; medals from TexSom, NY Wine and Food Classic, International Woman’s Wine Competition, and honors from Decanter.
Kelly and the Macari family are proud to showcase a collection of world-class wines from the emerging North Fork of Long Island region. The winery was recently named "Winery of the Year" and won "Best Red" for their Cabernet Franc from the New York Wine & Food Classic.
