Company Description:
Pierce Ranch Vineyards is a small, 2,400-case winery located at the southernmost tip of Monterey County in the San Antonio Valley, about 40 minutes north of Paso Robles. Specializing in Spanish and Portuguese varieties, we favor something of an old world/non-interventionist approach and produce a a range of small-lot, estate wines using only native fermentations.
Pay Range:
$14 per hour

Job Description:
We are seeking a harvest intern to help with the 2018 crush. A seasonal position, this will be available from August until late November, though, for the right candidate, there is the possibility of longer term employment. This is an excellent opportunity to gain practical experience working in a small-scale winery, participating in all aspects of wine production.
Position requirements:
• Strong communication skills and the ability to learn quickly
• Ability to work long hours, preferably with reasonably good humor
• General knowledge of the winemaking process from vineyard to winery
• Ability to work quickly and safely around chemicals and heavy equipment
• Ability to operate a forklift safely
• A detail-oriented mindset and good record-keeping skills
• Familiarity with hose lineups/pumps
• Ability to lift 50 pounds
• Reliable transportation
Responsibilities:
• Assisting with cleaning and sanitation of winery and equipment
• Harvesting, sorting, and processing fruit
• Fermentation monitoring and additions
• Barreling work (i.e., topping, cleaning barrels, etc.)
• Pulling samples and lab analysis for monitoring wine
• Keeping detailed records
• Maintaining variable hours and working long shifts as needed
