Job Description:
RP North is looking for summer interns to assist with crop estimating, scouting, viticulture practices, and production work. Our offices are based in McMinnville and we manage vineyards throughout the Willamette Valley. This is a great position for viticulture and enology students looking to get some hands-on vineyard experience before returning to school or starting a winery harvest position.
Duties and Responsibilities
• Collect yield data: number of shoots, number of clusters and cluster weights
• Monitor and record grapevine phenology stages and dates
• Collect petiole and leaf blades for nutritional analysis at veraison
• Determine replanting needs in young vineyards
• Monitor for pests and diseases
• Update fungicide spray work order records
• Assist in setting up and evaluating vineyard trials
• Assist with vineyard production work as needed
Qualifications
• Ability to work as a dynamic and contributing team member in a fast-paced environment
• Experience working outdoors
• Ability to work independently
• Must be able to work long days outside in variable weather conditions
• Excellent communication skills; can communicate effectively in English, Spanish speaking skills a plus
• Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
• Must be computer literate, with proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
• Must have a good driving record, dependable transportation
• Must work long hours as required
• Ability to lift 40 pounds
