Vineyard Professional Services is in search of a qualified graduating student hoping to gain experience in the wine and viticulture industry. As a vineyard management company, we farm 30 vineyards across Templeton, Paso Robles, and southern Monterey County. We strive to produce high quality winegrapes with great consideration taken of the economic and environmental impacts. As a Vineyard Apprentice, you will primarily assist vineyard managers with phenological data collection, vineyard work, and other special projects. The apprenticeship will run from June to December 2021. Hourly rate is dependent on experience.
Job duties could include:
Collection of soil, tissue, and fruit samples
Collection of data to help estimate crop loads
Management and dissemination of data from infield weather stations, and irrigation monitoring components
Management of vineyard sustainability certification and reporting.
Prepare analysis for aerial imagery flights of the vineyard.
Manage company mobile device hardware.
Assist in the coordination and execution of the maturation monitoring program
Work with field crews on various viticulture activities: crop thinning, leafing, etc.
Input field scouting and phenological data into MS Excel and a farm management database
Currently graduating from a Viticulture, Fruit Science, Ag Engineering, or similar Bachelor of Science program
Must have a valid CA driver’s license and the ability to be insured.
Ability to work 6 days a week for 8-10 consecutive hours outdoors
Ability to start work in the early morning hours
Proficient in MS Word, MS Excel
Ability to lift 40lbs
Means to drive to and from work
