Chamisal Vineyards is located in San Luis Obispo’s Edna Valley. Chamisal Vineyards is comprised of 60 vineyard acres planted. Our focus is on crafting world-class Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Syrah and Grenache from our unique estate winery here on the Central Coast. We care deeply about sustainability are dedicated to organic and biodynamic farming practices and we are SIP certified, both in the vineyard and the winey.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Provides active support to full time laboratory staff
Assists with grape sampling and berry and juice sample preparation
Assists in the operation of laboratory equipment including the pH meter, auto-titrator, density meter, cash still, centrifuge, and spectrophotometer
Performs a variety of basic analysis including pH, titratable acidity, free SO2, volatile acidity, malic acid, glucose/fructose, turbidity, and bottling QC
Monitors daily fermentation brix and temps
Pulls samples of barrels and tanks and assists with setting up bench trials
Promptly and accurately records data and analysis and assists with data entry into tracking software
Assists with cellar work as needed, including but not limited to fruit processing, barrel work, wine and juice movements, wine additions, and cleaning and sanitization of equipment
Additional tasks as required by the winemaking team

Education, Training and Other Requirements:

Previous harvest laboratory experience or completion of college level Chemistry is preferred but not required
Must be able to work outside and in cold and wet environments
Must be able to use ladders and walk on catwalks
Must be detail orientated and ability to multitask
Must work in a clean, productive, and efficient manner
Ability to lift 50 pounds
Ability to work long hours, various shifts and on weekends
Must adhere to all company safety protocols including use of personal protective equipment
