Harvest Intern
Seasonal F/T
McPrice Myers
Paso Robles, CA
McPrice Myers is a band of misfits with large, boisterous personalities, who collectively meld together with the unifying goal of crafting balanced, contemplative and site specific wines from some of the Central Coast's most acclaimed and sought after vineyards. We take our job very seriously. Ourselves, that's another story. Mac, our owner and winemaker, cut his teeth on Rhone varietals, but we also have endearing soft spots for Bordeaux varietals and Zinfandel. We have 20 acres planted on our Estate, which features some of the steepest, north and east facing slopes you'll find in Paso. Here you'll learn from one of the geekiest wine brains in the area.
Production-centric position with heavy emphasis on cleaning, sanitization and grape processing. Ideal candidates will have a thirst for wine knowledge and the ability to stay calm and focused under a slew of multitasking conditions. Candidates with previous production experience are appreciated, but not entirely necessary; willing to train the right personalities.

Responsibilities Include:
Pumpovers and punchdowns, Brix and temperature readings, yeast inoculations and additions, crush equipment setup and cleanup, tank draining and shoveling, barrel cleaning, pump and tank sanitization, pressure washing and foot-stomping grapes.

Able to withstand long, task filled days. Typical workdays are from 7:30 am-job completion (10-12 hours)
Flexible and available seven days a week for the duration of harvest
Able to perform quality work efficiently with minimal supervision
Amenable and responsive to last minute requests
Able to take direction and work well with a team and maintain a positive attitude
Able to drag hoses and pumps, perform fermentation punchdowns and pumpovers and be on feet most of the day
Forklift experience a plus but not required
Excellent communication skills
Sensory evaluative of fermentations
Microscopically detail oriented
There's no sugar coating it: harvest is a marathon. Each vintage our mantra remains: "Respect the process." There are no shortcuts. However, it is promised, you will have fun, and learn a ton of practical and applicable transferrable skills. Every Intern that has come on board to work harvest with us has either continued working with us, or, bare minimum, returns for future crew lunches and tastings. Bottom line, once you've worked a harvest here, you're part of the McPrice Myers family.
