Crop Advisors are knowledgeable about plants, soil and water. They maintain a close relationship with their client and scout their fields for problems that may arise during the growing season. They make recommendations ranging from seed to fertilizer and from pest management to disease treatment.

Keep agronomic and financial records of customer accounts
Scout crops for pests and diseases that may arise during various parts of the growing season
Build relationships with growers that you service
Collaborate with other advisers in your area in order to understand disease and pest outbreaks in the area
Work with sales manager to develop sales plans and pricing strategies
Make recommendations to growers on actions that may need to be taken when problems arise
Provide training to growers in your area to help with safe and proper crop production
Identify potential weed problems and offer suggestions on products
Utilize knowledge and understanding of weeds and herbicide modes of action to determine best suitable treatment.
Suggest crops and seeds to be used in the next growing season
Advise on chemical and fertilizer applications
Professional responsibility to diagnose crop fertility and pestilence to achieve maximum yield for customers
Maintain professional education in crops, environmental and regulatory aspects in agricultural area served
Develop high technical competency in customer crops served along with additional environmental impacts (water, soil, irrigation, cultural practices) to crop yield
Maintain highest level of integrity regarding professional responsibility plus balance between grower demands and company resources
Perform other duties as assigned
Ability to recognize new Innovation and creativity to adopt to an ever changing environment
Minimum of 3 to 5 years’ experience and established industry relationships
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with public speaking ability a plus.
Critical Thinking skills with keen ability to diagnose problems
Good Interpersonal skills with ability to interface with a wide variety of personalities and complex issues
High Organizational skills able to self-start, maintain detailed records and accommodate various competing tasks within a given time period
Excellent sales and customer service skills
Valid Driver’s License
Proficient with Microsoft Office or related software.

Certified Crop Advisor License (CCA), preferred
Bachelor’s degree in Viticulture
CA Pest Control Advisor License

Physically able to work under adverse field conditions
Sitting/standing for prolonged periods of time
Ability to travel to branch locations, meetings and customer locations
Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times
