JOB SUMMARY

The Laboratory internship position is based at the Soledad Winery. The lab intern will provide assistance with successful completion of analytical chemistry method development and qualification and optimization of existing analytical method. This candidate will also be working with instrument vendor technical team to help facilitate successful implementation of analytical procedures and collect meaningful data from trial runs to help validate and qualify analytical chemistry methods. This is a full-time, paid internship starting in July for 10 weeks, with full time day shift hours. Candidates must be currently enrolled in college (or just about to graduate), with a major/emphasis of Enology or Science preferred.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
This intern will help design and execute analytical chemistry trial runs to help qualify new analytical methods and optimize existing methods.
Intern is required to research technical background of analytical methods and help secure critical analytical procedures into SOPs.
Intern will collect large volumes of meaningful data in a methodical manner to help demonstrate precision and accuracies of improved and new analytical methods.
Intern will compile data; help analyze data and prepare reports from such trials.
Intern will be responsible for managing raw data and subsequent reports and charts generated from such data.
Intern will organize and do a presentation at successful completion of analytical projects.
Intern will also assist lab staff with other routine analysis and assist winemaking with blending and fining trials.
Intern will participate in laboratory 5-S sustainability program.

QUALIFICATIONS
Be able to follow instructions and SOPs for successful setups of new test procedures.
Be able conduct trial runs of new and improved analytical methods and collect a large pool of qualification data
Be able to input data into excel spreadsheet and create various charts to demonstrate trends of performance variables.
Be able to write summary reports of various analytical trials.
Be able to use visual aids such as PowerPoint to present trial results.
Must be a college student; Junior Level in coursework, or above
Science or Enology majors preferred
Must be able to commit to a minimum of 10 weeks of full-time work (12 weeks preferred)
Must be able to pass a background check, post offer physical and drug screen
Support and model all company procedures and policies Excellent organizational & interpersonal skills with attention to detail
Provide good verbal and written communications to all levels of management, both internally and externally
Prioritize while able to adapt to changing priorities
Work independently within set guidelines
Routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines
Demonstrated reliability and punctuality, work effectively in team/crew environment, adherence to all safety regulations and operating procedures

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Working environment has exposure to both indoors and outdoors and related warehouse/production equipment and associated noise levels
Ability to perform tasks requiring bending, stooping, standing, and twisting in the lab/warehouse/production environment
Occasionally required to climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. occasionally
