Full Time Winery & Viticulture Technician

Lynmar Estate is hiring a full time Viticulture/ Winery Technician. The position of is a dual capacity role that will report to the winemaker & vineyard manager. Most of the year this individual will be responsible for assisting with the technical aspects of the vineyard operation, as listed, but not restricted to the below activities. This role requires that the individual is a capable self-starter, and maintains a high level of interest and curiosity in wine growing and wine production. It requires a great deal of outdoor activity in occasionally extreme conditions, not restricted to extreme heat, sun exposure, extreme cold, loud, dusty, uneven surfaces, inclines and slopes, ability to operate equipment safely and a clean driving record. This position requires that the individual is capable of lifting 50 pounds. Attention to Lynmar Estate and Quail Hill Vineyard, LLC Safety protocol is a mandated

Vineyard Position: 7-8 Months (January Thru August)-Reports to Vineyard Manager
• Application of vineyard nutrition program
• Vineyard Observations for Bloom, Shatter, Berry Development, Veraison and Crop Yield Estimates.
• Disease and incidence recording/ mapping
• Nutrient deficiency and Inclement weather reporting
• Technical data collection using a leaf porometer, soil moisture probes and pressure bomb
• Managing Field experiments

Winery Cellar Hand: 4-5 Months (September thru Dec/Jan)-Reports to Winemaker
• Grape maturity sampling
• Harvest preparation, cleaning and winery maintenance
• Forklift operation
• Operating crush pad equipment, white bladder press and red basket press
• Wine & juice additions
• Various types of barrel work including steaming, transfers, filling, topping and stirring
• Assisting with racking & bottling
The individual must be capable of following exacting directions, and to do so without continual oversight. Accountability will be enforced in the consistency of execution of responsibilities, the ability to complete tasks as assigned, regular and consistent progress reports. Challenges will arise, that’s the nature of agriculture and the processing of an agricultural product. The ability to think quickly on one’s feet, communicate effectively and with precision, and contribute to problem solving is paramount to the successful execution of this job.

There are many moving parts, and many individuals involved in all aspects of the operation, even though at times this role will require extended periods of individual effort. Strong record-keeping and exacting execution are critical to the success of the individual hired for this position.

Other job responsibilities may be assigned during the course of the year, and a willingness to adapt to the demands of the job is imperative.
