itä wines is a boutique winery dedicated to expressing the unique terroir of the Eastern foothills of the Walla Walla Valley, through our estate wines and working with fruit from neighboring vineyards. Winemaker Kelsey Albro Itämeri brings a restrained style that matches the moderation and finesse of these hillside grapes, and a focus on varietals and styles uniquely suited to this place we call home.
Pay Range:
40-45K/year plus bonus

Job Description:
itä wines is seeking a General Manager to assist in running and growing all aspects of our boutique winery. This person will work closely with our Founder/Owner/Winemaker, as well as other PT staff, on a broad variety of sales, marketing, facilities, production, administrative and other tasks as needed. The right candidate will be excited about wine and our community here in Walla Walla, and willing to pitch in with whatever needs doing. This person will become an integral part of our team and have significant opportunities for further professional growth with the business.
Responsibilities
• Host customer tastings at the winery, making sales using our POS system
• Manage tasting room staff and create a positive and welcoming guest experience
• Answer general winery phone and email correspondence
• Attend marketing and sales events, both in Walla Walla and other cities
• Pack shipping orders and move wine between warehouses
• Conduct monthly inventory, sales recordkeeping, and other admin tasks
• Develop marketing materials and social media posts
• Assist in production work including barrel maintenance, cleaning equipment, taking samples, etc. throughout the year and harvest work such as sorting fruit, daily fermentation monitoring, punching down fermentations, racking wine to barrel etc.
• Light cleaning and organizational work in the both the cellar and tasting room
• Other projects as needed
Requirements
• Currently having, or being willing and able to acquire, a WA State MAST permit (21+)
• Valid driver’s license required, forklift certification is a major plus
• Ability to lift/push/pull 40+ lbs on a regular basis
• Attention to detail and being able to follow very specific technical instructions
• Ability to work independently and see projects through to completion
• A love for interpersonal interaction, both with customers and coworkers
• Ability to work weekends as a part of the regular schedule, and occasional evenings
• Genuine interest in the winemaking process and growing a small business
• Previous hospitality and/or winemaking experience, relevant degrees/certifications a major plus
