Job Description:
HUNNICUTT Wine Company. is a family-owned custom crush winery in Saint Helena, California that produces wine from Napa and Sonoma Counties for a dozen clients and three house brands. Located on a hillside in the foothills of Napa’s eastern Vaca Range, HUNNICUTT features an 18,000-square foot of caves cut into the volcanic tuff that functions as the facility’s hosting, production, and ageing space. We specialize in Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Zinfandel, and Pinot Noir, but also produce Sauvignon Blanc, Syrah, Malbec, and Merlot.
We are currently adding to our team and are searching for the right candidate to fill our Production Assistant position.
Successful candidates will have a passion for wine production and a desire to provide the highest quality service to our clients. Experience in both a custom crush facility and VinTrace winery database software is preferred, but not required.
The Production Assistant duties are broken down as follows:
25% Office and Organization
75% Cellar work, coupled with supervising and training for the cellar team.
Duties will include, but are not limited to the following:
• Assist client winemakers in implementing instructions for wine activity
• Assist in scheduling wine movements and creating and closing out work orders
• Updating the winery software system with all cellar inventory and movements
• Help to implement all safety and sanitation protocols throughout the production department.
• Assist with all compliance reporting for client wine brands and in-house wine brands.
• Perform in-house lab work and collect samples for outside lab analysis when necessary.
• Assist Cellar Master in maintaining an organized barrel room
• Assist in identification of production equipment issues and resolutions
• Maintain inventory and order supplies such as gases, hardware, chemicals, etc.
• Other responsibilities as assigned by Winemakers or Associate Winemaker
Minimum Requirements:
-Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
-Wine Production Experience
-Ability to work long hours and weekends when required (mostly during harvest)
-Ability to regularly lift up to 50 pounds
-Excellent verbal and written English communication skills
COMPENSATION: Competitive hourly wage plus health benefits and paid time off.
