Title:
2022 Harvest Winemaking Interns
Type:
Seasonal F/T
Employer:
SLOAN ESTATE
Employment Location:
Rutherford, CA
Company Description:
SLOAN ESTATE, perched on the eastern hills of Rutherford across 40 spectacular acres, overlooks the Napa Valley floor at elevations ranging from 875 to 990 feet above sea level. The 13 acres under vine were planted in 1997 on a mineral-rich, porous soil of fractured volcanic rock and sandy loam. The perfect blend of white tufa soil, a cool marine influence, and generous sun exposure forms the ideal site for growing fruit of a distinct quality and crafting exceptional wines that are compelling expressions of these elements.
Pay Range:
Starting at $20/hr
Anticipated Start Date:
September 2022
Anticipated End Date:
November/December 2022 (depends on Harvest)
Job Description:
SLOAN ESTATE is looking for interns to join our winemaking team for the 2022 harvest.
Interns will be involved in all aspects of harvest. Including vineyard sampling, tank and barrel fermentation, and pressing.
Ideal candidates will have strong work ethic, attention to detail, and be able to work in a team as well as individually. Previous harvest experience is preferred but not required.
Housing is offered at the Estate.
Duties will include maturity sampling, cellar sanitation, fruit processing, fermentation monitoring and cap management—pump-overs and barrel fermentation, as well as draining/pressing.
Intern positions are physically demanding and safety is essential. Candidates should expect to spend long hours on their feet and be able to lift up to 50-75 pounds. This includes manually turning fermenting barrels, and working 6-7 days (with overtime) through peak harvest.
Other Information:
Housing provided.
