Job Description:
SUMMARY: 60% Support the Enologist in all laboratory practices, 40% Support the Cellar
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Responsible for performing a variety of laboratory analysis including but not limited to:
• Calibration, operating, trouble shooting and maintenance of all laboratory equipment
• Processing grape maturity sampling
• Fermentation monitoring, daily Brix/Temp using a DMA
• Running pH, TA, FSO2 and K+ on the Auto titrator
• Enzymatic analysis
• Possible field sampling
• Additions, to wines/musts
• Assist the team in the cellar when needed
• Other tasks deemed necessary will vary depending on daily needs
Responsible for performing a variety of cellar operations including but not limited to:
• Grape receiving and processing activities
• Additions to wines/musts
• Cap management practices, such as pump-overs
• Fermentation monitoring
• Barrel activities (cleaning, filling/topping)
• Equipment, tank and winery sanitation
• Forklift driving
• Other tasks deemed necessary will vary depending on daily needs
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
• A positive attitude
• Reliability
• Ability to work both independently and as a team member
• Ability to understand and comply with any and all safety requirements
• Ability to perform the physical labor necessary
• Effective communication skills
• Good reading, writing and math skills
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to work in various temperatures
• Fluent in English or as a second language required
• Valid California Driver's License and clean DMV record preferred but not required
