Over the last 20ish years, owner/Winemaker Vailia From has seen every side of the wine industry, and there is something that has kept her here on the Central Coast. Here Desparada isn’t forced into any particular style, and is free to play, to discover and innovate. The wines of Desparada are guided more by spirit than style. Each wine stands for a particular vision, and in each vintage new knowledge, varietals, and vineyards to bring that vision into sharper focus. The wines are Bordeaux and Italian-varietal driven, with a focus on production in terra cotta Amphorae.

This role is for a person with soul, personality and drive. You will be leading intimate tasting experiences at our Tasting Room & Winery in Tin City. This job has a lot of perks. You will have fun, be challenged, and get to be yourself. You’ll meet some great people and represent us in a busy and fast paced environment. You will be working closely with a very small team (including a tortoise and a betta fish) and wear many hats.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Make every tasting special. Sell wine and tell stories. Our tasting room space is intimate allowing us to spend time connecting with each of our guests.
• Take telephone orders, answer questions, book reservations and provide great customer service.
• Help with general upkeep of the winery, including light cleaning of the tasting room, kitchen and bathroom daily.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• You must love wine, people and music
• You must be driven to sell, grow and improve
• Strong computer and phone skills
• Have your $#!% together. We have fun, but this is a professional place of business

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

• 9am to 5pmish, Thursday to Monday
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. (case of wine)
• Must be 21 years of age or older
