Job Description:
Bien Nacido Vineyards is a leading producer of terroir-driven, hand-crafted Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and Syrah. We are seeking full time seasonal winemaking interns with energy and a positive attitude to join our team for the 2022 harvest. This position will start in August and conclude in November, but the actual start/end date will be determined by the weather. The interns will collaborate closely with the winemaking team conducting a wide variety of hands-on tasks in all facets of harvest work.
This is an opportunity to gain experience how to operate in a detail oriented, terroir-focused winemaking environment. You will get the opportunity to work with fruit from Bien Nacido Vineyards and Solomon Hills from the Santa Maria Valley. Jobs will include vineyard sampling, and analysis, crop adjustment, grape sorting, crushing, monitoring fermentations, punch downs, pump-overs, draining, pressing, topping, racking, laboratory analysis, etc.
Desired candidates should possess, previous winery experience, experience in wet chemistry, and strong organizational skills. However, we are willing to train an inexperienced candidate if they have the right attitude.
The winery is in northern Santa Barbara County, approximately 15 minutes from Santa Maria. We do have onsite housing available.
The candidate should be able to lift/pull/push 50lbs, be able to stand/walk for extended periods of time, have a valid driver’s license, a reliable vehicle, and have a flexible work schedule. Candidates will have be guaranteed at least 40hrs/week. We do offer onsite housing for the duration of harvest. During peak harvest there will be plenty of daily overtime, and a 6 day workweek with one weekend day off.
