Employer:
Rhys Vineyards
Employment Location:
Santa Cruz Mountains, CA
Company Description:
Rhys Vineyards is currently seeking interns to join our small team this harvest from August through November. We work exclusively with our estate vineyards planted in the Santa Cruz Mountains. This is an exciting opportunity to work with small-lot fermentations of Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Chenin Blanc, and Syrah. And that's not all - we also produce traditional method sparkling wine from Pinot Noir and Chardonnay in-house from pressing to disgorgement.
Pay Range:
$25/hr
Anticipated Start Date:
8/15/23
Anticipated End Date:
11/17/23
Job Description:
Interns are involved in all aspects of winemaking, including fruit receival and sorting, lab work, fermentation management, punch downs, pump overs, pressing, topping, and racking.
Our harvest days can be long, and the winery is a cave facility that is frequently cold and damp, but with an upbeat attitude and a passion for wine, you can be a part of our exciting team.
We will provide housing, lunch and dinner during harvest, and plenty of wine. We expect you to arrive with your own transportation, or be able to secure a reliable form of transportation shortly after starting.
Candidates must also be eligible to work in the US and have excellent understanding/communication in English. They must also be able to perform strenuous physical tasks, such as lifting up to 50 pounds, repetitive movements, bending down, and ascend/descend ladders.
