Picchetti Winery is an over 120 year old historic estate located on the famed Montebello Road in the foothills of the Santa Cruz Mountains above Cupertino, CA. We specialize in small lots of over 10 different varieties of grapes. One of which is from our 120 year old dry farmed estate grown Zinfandel. We have been receiving "Best of Show", "Best of Class", "Best of Variety", and countless double gold medals at competitions, and we are determined to maintain this high bar of wine quality. This is a rare opportunity to work for a small, family owned winery and in an immersive grape to wine experience working as part of our winemaking team.

Job Description:
We are seeking a hardworking individual who possesses a strong desire to learn, interpersonal skills, and who demonstrates personal responsibility, and attention to detail. This position will be dedicated in the Cellar, with some opportunities to help in the Tasting Room. Winemaking is rooted in Agriculture which does not respect a typical work week - weekend work and days longer than 8 hours occur frequently (we pay overtime). The ideal candidate who exceeds our expectations has a strong potential to become a full time employee after a trial period from August to November. Due to the wide range of experience and skills necessary for this role, hourly compensation is above average.
Position Description:
Under the supervision of the Winemaker, you will be working with the Winemaker through all phases of harvest. The position will include a wide range of responsibilities and activities from lab work to grape sampling to filling barrels to moving cases of wine. The ability to communicate effectively with good skills in reading, writing and basic math are required. Must be able to read and interpret documents, such as safety rules and procedures, and be able to read cellar work orders, count barrels, record times and dates. Individuals selected for this position must be reliable, punctual and have a good work ethic. Must be willing to work flexible hours including overtime and varying shifts. In short, you will be asked to do a little bit of everything.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Work in a team environment
• Follow safe cellar practices
• Vineyard sampling
• Clean all winery equipment
• Additions and fermentation management
• Rack juice and wine
• Operate equipment and presses
• Participate in wine and juice evaluation
• Other duties as assigned
Background and Experience:
Prior harvest experience is preferred, but not required. Flexibility, a positive attitude, attentiveness, accountability and a willingness to learn are a must. During peak season (generally 4-6 weeks) we will be putting in long hours and you can expect to work 6 days a week, 12 hours a day (with overtime pay in accordance with state law).
Physical Demands:
This position requires the ability to reach with hands and arms, sit, walk, climb ladders and flights of stairs, stoop, crawl and kneel, and regularly lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Must be able to work in a variety of climatic environments: in a cellar at 55*F, and outside where it can get over 100*F. Must be able to work varying shifts and overtime as needed, particularly during the peak of the harvest season. Must be able to effectively communicate in English
