In aspiring to make wines at the highest level, the BOND and Promontory Vineyard Intern acts as the dedicated eyes and ears that connect the winegrowing team to the individual characteristics and needs of each vineyard. The Vineyard Intern is responsible for assisting the Viticulturist with the rigorous, caring, and thoughtful collection of viticulture data at all vineyard properties. They provide insights that enable the winegrowing team to continuously advance the precision and responsiveness of farming practices.



ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:



• Collect data relating to phenology, irrigation, nutrition, and plant health.

• Scout vineyards for pests, disease, and plant performance.

• Collect data for vine counts and organize crop estimates.

• Support maturity sampling process during harvest.

• Engage in vineyard operations including shoot thinning, canopy management, fruit thinning, and harvest.

• Assist with special projects as needed.



NON-ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:



• Performs all related duties as assigned.



QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:



• Degree in Viticulture or related field, or previous vineyard experience and some coursework

• Good organizational skills, attention to detail

• Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel

• Analytical and math skills required

• Problem solving skills

• Ability to multi-task

• Proactive, honest and trustworthy

• Team player with a positive attitude

• Valid driver’s license and insurance



WILLINGNESS AND ABILITY TO:



• Stand and walk on uneven, sloped terrain and hillside for extended periods.

• Grasp, stoop, carry and crouch.

• Ability to accurately distinguish colors.

• Lift and handle materials weighing up to 50 pounds.

• Work overtime, as needed, pre-dawn or late hours.



WORK CONDITIONS:

• Seasonally wet and cold outdoors conditions

• Seasonally sunny and hot Napa Valley conditions

• Moderate climate
