Mia Marie Vineyards located in Escondido, CA is looking for an intern for the 2024 season. We are a female-owned and operated boutique winery that specializes in estate and locally grown wines. Mia Marie offers an all-inclusive experience encompassing all steps of the winemaking process from vine to barrel to bottle.
Pay Range:
16-18/hr plus over time

Job Description:
Responsibilities will include working with our winemaking team through receiving, sorting, crushing, barrel work, cap management, sanitation of the winery and equipment, lab analysis, record keeping, and barrel management. This is a full-time paid seasonal position for approximately 3-4 months, starting at the end of July. We are looking for individuals who have a passion for wine, a keen eye for detail, and are excited to learn more about the process.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Racking and transfers of juice & wine
• Inoculations/additions to juice & wine
• Pump-overs/punch downs of red ferments
• Operating crush equipment
• Draining and pressing of tanks, including shoveling pomace
• Perform sanitation procedures
• Wine barrel maintenance, preparation and filling
• Fermentation management and tasting
Additional duties may be assigned.
A passion for fine wine, ability to follow direction, willingness to work hard, and clean are essential. We are detail-oriented and specialize in small lot, terroir-driven winemaking. The ability to work long hours on your feet, strong social skills, and a sense of humor are all a must.
Other Information:
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Must be fluent in English
• Must be comfortable working long hours, up to 6 days a week
• Ideally have valid US or international driver’s license
• Ability to communicate effectively and work well with others
• Harvest experience is a plus
WORKING CONDITIONS:
• Standing for long periods of time (8 hours or more)
• Must comply with all safety requirements
• Exposed to machinery, including forklift
• Long and irregular hours during peak periods on various shifts
• Lifting of 50 pounds or greater
• Working outside, as well as a cold cellar
