Cellar Internship 2024
Seasonal F/T
Bedrock Wine Co
Sonoma, CA
Bedrock Wine Co. is a mission-driven winery in Sonoma, CA committed to restoring and protecting California's historic vineyards. We directly control the farming on over 50% of the fruit we intake and have our own vineyards in Sonoma, Napa, Contra Costa and Lodi. On the farming side, our 100-acre home ranch in Sonoma Valley is scheduled to be Regenerative Organic Certified this coming year. We cater our farming practices to the realities of each of our unique growing regions, but are aways pushing towards resilience and sustainability. We make a number of different wines in a number of different ways, but our winemaking philosophies all share a commitment to best showcasing the amazing terroirs we get to work with. Along with the historic Zinfandel-dominant field blends, we work extensively with Syrah, Sauvignon Blanc, and Bordeaux varieties among others.

Come join our cellar team for Harvest 2024! You’ll get to work with fruit from some of the most beautiful vineyards in California: Bedrock, Monte Rosso, Old Hill, Nervo, Teldeschi, Evangelho, Dolinsek to name a few. We aim to arm you with a broad understanding of how our work in the vineyards translates in the winery into the finished product. We cultivate an intellectually curious and open atmosphere at Bedrock which we extend to the internship experience. We work closely with one another and value collaboration, open conversation, a drive to learn, experimentation, and having fun.

Our cellar interns work directly with the full-time Bedrock cellar team in all facets of harvest work including: operating different kinds of pumps, running presses, cap management, wine transfers, fermentation monitoring, foot treading, operating our crush line, barrel work, and much more! With all the different styles of wine that we make there is never a dull moment, and oodles of learning opportunities.

We’re looking for candidates who are hungry for knowledge, lovers of wine, independent, hard-working, willing to ask questions, and ideally familiar with some of the vineyards mentioned above (or at least willing to look them up!). Forklift experience is not required but is a plus--we will certify interns who are not already certified. Be prepared to work long, physical hours in the thick of harvest or to be scrubbing bungs and any other surfaces of the winery when things are slow. Regardless of your cellar experience, we ask you to demonstrate smarts and passion and to not take yourself too seriously.

Applicants must have the ability to perform physical tasks, such as lift and carry 50 pounds and stand for long periods of time. Applicants must have reliable transportation and housing. A J-1 visa needs to be secured by individuals without U.S. citizenship.

The position will begin July 29th, 2024 and our harvest typically extends through at least mid-October.

Please send us your CV and a cover letter (we put a lot of weight on a thoughtful cover letter!).
