Job Description:
Are you looking for an opportunity to learn more about viticulture and different aspects of wine production as you pursue a career in production agriculture? Do you want to learn from and work with a well-established, successful Paso Robles winery?
Come work with us as our Grower Relations Harvest Intern! You’d be working directly with our Director of Vineyards, winemakers, in the cellar and the winery lab. The position includes tracking vineyard phenology, crop estimation and data collection and scouting for pests and diseases. Then, moving into harvest brix sampling becomes the main job and most-important part of pre-harvest and harvest as we determine harvest dates depending on field samples. As we move through harvest, you will be working in the cellar learning all aspects of cellar work. This position is based in Paso Robles but you may travel to Santa Barbra County ans Monterey County. We provide company vehicles for travel.
The duration of this internship is July through November. This is a 30 hours/week, hourly-paid position.
Job Description
Grower Relations Responsibilities:
Extensive data collection including cluster counting for crop forecasting, vineyard monitoring, pest scouting, and phenological data tracking
- Sugar sampling both berries and clusters for grape maturity and phenolics
- Ability to utilize and operate tools and equipment used in agricultural
applications including small crusher and hand tools
- Assist in running lab analysis: brix, pH and TA
- Must have clean driving record and valid driver’s license
