All Encompassing Small Winery Apprenticeship
Seasonal F/T
Aaron Wines/Aequorea Vineyards
Tin City - Paso Robles, CA
WE ARE: hard-working artisans, farmers, wine geeks, tequila lovers, world travelers, surfers, outdoor enthusiasts, music lovers, book nerds, fast-talkers, storytellers, and more than anything - passionate about our small but mighty operation!

YOU ARE: awesome, a go-getter, detail-oriented, not obsessed with your social media, knowledgeable, music-loving, driven, reliable, creative, and more than anything - a great person. Oh, and you love working on a team with other great people.

OVERVIEW: Since 2002 our small, 5,000 case winery in Paso Robles has been working hard to push boundaries and craft creative, authentic wines that tell stories and showcase the very best of our homeland of the Central Coast. In short - we make badass wines and have a hell of a time doing it. We are located in Tin City, one of the most exciting places in Paso Robles where winemaking ideas, equipment, grapes, beers, laughs, and harvest chaos abound. Our core team of 5 work together to put out some of the best wines our area can produce. We’re making aromatic whites and Pinot Noir from the San Luis Obispo Coast, as well as a range of powerful reds from the best vineyards on the Westside of Paso Robles. Skin contact Pinot Gris? Check. Single vineyard Pinot Noirs? You better believe it. Carbonic Grenache? Put your boots on. Inky, dry-farmed Petite Sirah? Of course. 60-year-old vine Cabernet grown on pure limestone? Hell yes.

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR: A college student or recent college graduate to join our team as our “Swiss Army Knife” for the next 6 months. This is an internship opportunity that gives you the unique chance to gain hands-on experience in the inner workings of a small winery. Opportunities include but is not limited to cellar work/winemaking, bottling, wine club, hospitality, and harvest preparation/execution. You’ll get to see it all, and we promise to teach you all that we know along the way.

This role is ready to rock whenever you are, starting in a part-time capacity at first and transitioning into a full-time role (40+hrs per week) as we lead up to harvest in August-September. We expect this role to complete sometime near the end of the year. If you are still in college, we are willing to work with your schedule in the near term so that you would be able to continue to take classes while also gaining some experience across multiple departments. However, due to the demands of harvest, we are looking for someone who can commit to being here full time during the Fall. So ideally you be taking a pause from classes, however you would be able to receive your internship credit!

RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Show up everyday stoked, ready to make wine, and with a great attitude.
- Know how to be professional, detail oriented, and serious about the wines we make whilst still being awesome.
- Know how to work independently, have a good head on your shoulders, and make good decisions.
- Be able to work long hours, do plenty of physical labor, and do it in wet boots.
- Be flexible in your work hours and days during harvest - this ain’t no 9-5 job or 5-10pm restaurant shift damnit. The grapes determine our day.
- Be able to talk about things other than wine - if you have no other hobbies/passions in your life you’ll bore us to tears.
- Must like loud music, getting dirty, and be able to work hard even after a glass of wine at lunch.
- Have a desire to clean like you’ve never cleaned before.
- Be inquisitive – you’re here with us every day, so you better want to learn.
- Sort, crush, punchdown, pumpover, run chemistry, drive a forklift, fill barrels, stomp grapes, move heavy crap all day long, etc.
- Be ready to get your hands (and boots) dirty.
