Launch your winemaking career by immersing yourself in harvest at JUSTIN Vineyards and Winery!

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Harvest Winemaking Intern to join the production team at JUSTIN for 2024 harvest. This internship offers a hands-on experience working alongside our Winemaking and Production team. Your role is essential to assist in all areas of harvest-related functions from lab analysis to production operations and meticulous wine tracking functions. As the Harvest Winemaking Intern, you’ll gain valuable experience across these crucial functions while supporting all aspects of harvest.

This is a seasonal, full-time (40-50 hours per week) internship that will begin in August and potentially extend through December and is located at our Wisteria facility - 2265 Wisteria Lane, Paso Robles, CA 93446.

Job Description

- Responsible for daily Brix and temperature DMA measurements on all active ferments in tank and barrel
- Performs daily harvest analysis on juice and wine including Brix, pH, TA, FSO2/TSO2, Y15 and Alcolyzer
- Assist in obtaining juice and wine tank and barrel samples requested from production and lab staff
- Record accurate lab records in winemaking database and communicate any discrepancies in the data
- Assist production with work order and data entry, maintaining accurate computer records for all internal wine movements and inventories
- Support winemaking team with collecting data from VinWizard to help identify fermentation trends
- Assist with weighing of trucks/receiving of fruit on-site and precisely enter weigh tags into ERP software
- Responsible for the overall cleanliness and maintenance of the lab
- Assist the cellar team with transfers, racking, pump-overs, and other production duties throughout harvest as needed
- Adhere to department and company policies, procedure and safety standards
- Support the production and winemaking team with their duties and responsibilities as assigned

Qualifications

- Currently enrolled at a college/university and working towards a Bachelor's degree in Wine & Viticulture or related field or a minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a similar role
- Demonstrate a positive attitude, strong communication skills and ability to work well under pressure
- Solution-driven, willingness to make timely and accurate decisions
- Ability to establish direction, obtain commitment and execute appropriate production processes
- Ability to lift up to 45 pounds and stand/walk for a large portion of the days
- Flexible and willing to work overtime and weekends as needed

Pay Range: $19.00 - $21.00 per hour. Final compensation will be dependent upon skills and experience.
