Position Summary

The Winegrowing Seasonal employee is responsible for vineyard monitoring. Scouts for vineyard pest and diseases, conducts vineyard sampling and yield estimation activities, reports on phenology and cultural operations to provide feedback to Winegrowing leadership to ensure fruit consistently meets quality, quantity, and fiscal targets. Supports a One-Team culture. Ensures policies and SOPs are followed, and that collecting vineyard samples and data are executed to achieve a best-in-class winegrowing program within the region.

Responsibilities

Winegrape Quality Enhancement:
• Work with team to monitor and report on individual block performance and identify any issues.
• Supports scouting, including the monitoring of crop load and canopy management, phenology, pest and disease management, fertilization, and irrigation.
• Collects vineyard data and ensures standardized viticulture record keeping practices are followed.
• Conducts vineyard sampling, including tissue sampling, harvest maturity sampling, soil testing, yield estimates, long term block history, etc., across external vineyards.
• Performs any other duties as reasonably required, leveraging experience and expertise to support the overall success of the department.

Continuous Improvement:
• Contributes to a world class viticulture program by following standard operating procedures and existing processes.
• Supports Lean, sustainability and compliance programs.

EHS & ESG:
• Operates safely and follow all safety training requirements.

Minimum Qualifications
• High School Diploma/GED or higher degree.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office products and the ability to learn to use specific software as needed.
• Must have valid driver’s license with clean driving record.
Preferred Qualifications
• Agriculture, Viticulture, or related knowledge, skills, or work experience.
• Bilingual-English/Spanish. Eagerness to learn and work collaboratively within a team environment.
• Confident communication and interpersonal skills, ability to follow instructions and ask questions when needed.
• Basic organizational skills, ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively.
• Ability to maintain accurate records and follow established procedures.
• Enthusiastic attitude, willingness to take on new tasks and learn from experiences.
• Positive attitude and willingness to build relationships with colleagues, ability to collaborate effectively on projects and tasks.

Physical Requirements/Work Environment

• Works outdoors/indoors.
• Works in warm/cold climates.
• Works in high places.
• Works on wet surfaces.
• Is exposed to loud noise, fumes and/or toxic chemicals.
• Works near moving, mechanical parts and lift truck traffic.
• Must be able to move up to 55lbs.
• Ability to lift 45 lbs. on an occasional basis.
• Ability to walk 2-3 miles per day over uneven surfaces in the vineyard.
• Primary office environment may be warehouse/distribution setting.
• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• Must be able to sit and/or stand for long periods of time and work on a computer for extended periods. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions
