Tom Eddy Winery is a small, family-owned winery dedicated to crafting world-class Cabernet
Sauvignon, along with small-lot Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Our internship program provides a
unique opportunity to be an integral part of our winemaking team, producing ultra-premium,

handcrafted wines. We are looking for a hardworking, passionate individual eager to gain hands-
on experience in all aspects of the winemaking process within a family-owned environment.

Position Overview:

This internship offers hands-on involvement in the cellar, lab, and vineyard, providing a well-
rounded experience in winemaking. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, self-motivated, and

willing to put in the hard work required during the fast-paced harvest season.
Primary Responsibilities:
Cellar Work (70%)
• Maintain cleanliness, organization, and sanitation throughout the cellar.
• Operate various pumps and winemaking equipment.
• Assist with KMBS additions and barrel topping.
• Clean and steam barrels and kegs.
• Set up and operate harvest equipment properly.
• Process fruit, including destemming and pressing.
• Perform fermentation management (punch-downs, pump-overs, etc.).
• Transfer wine between tanks and barrel down.
• Clean harvest equipment daily.
• Clearing drains and scrubbing floors when necessary.
Lab Work (15%)
• Measure daily Brix and temperature of active fermentations using hydrometers.
• Maintain organized records of grape, juice, and wine analysis.
• Conduct free SO2 analysis (AO method).
• Perform titrations for TA and measure pH in grape, juice, and wine samples.
• Assist with yeast and bacterial inoculations as needed.
Vineyard Work (15%)
• Drive independently to vineyard sites across Napa and Sonoma Counties.
• Collect accurate grape samples for vineyard block assessment.
• Observe and report vineyard conditions, including shoot growth, pests, irrigation, and
disease pressure, directly to the winemaking team.
• Pre-Harvest Hours: 8 hours per day, 5 days a week
• Harvest Hours: 8–12 hours per day, 6 days a week
• Duration: Approx. 10 weeks, from August 15 to November 1 (may extend upon
request)
• Housing: Recommendations provided upon request.
• Preferred Qualifications:
o Basic understanding of winemaking processes, including cellar, lab, and vineyard
operations.
o Willingness to work long, physical hours.
o A strong interest in a career in the California wine industry is highly preferred.
