VITICULTURAL INTERN

CATEGORY: Full Time, Seasonal, Harvest Season (Typical May-November)

At Ridge Vineyards, we are committed to sustainable practices and farming our vineyards organically. As a Viticultural Intern, you will work alongside the Vineyard team. Ideal candidates are interested in pursuing a career in Viticulture and are comfortable working outdoors. We are seeking two interns for Sonoma County and one intern for the Santa Cruz Mountains. RESPONSIBILITIES
Collect and organize viticultural data relating to nutrient analysis, crop estimation, phenological progression, vine disease and health, etc.
Scout for grapevine diseases, pests, and any abnormalities
Run in-house diagnostics for Red Blotch
Engage in general viticultural practices (shoot thinning, leaf removal, harvest, etc.)
Collect and process berry samples.
Facilitate collaboration with our partners including Root Applied Sciences, Fruition Sciences, Tule, Fish Friendly Farming, etc.
Join Production team during tastings.
Occasional help with bottling, fruit sorting, and general cellar work as needed.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Highly organized and detail-oriented
Independent worker
Effective communication skills and ability to maintain professional relationships across organization
Hold a valid driver’s license and possess a clean driving record
Perform work in varying weather conditions and on uneven terrain
Ability to lift 50lbs, stand, bend, and walk on a regular basis
Maintain a regular, full-time schedule that includes overtime, weekends and holidays as needed
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education in Viticulture and/or Enology or equivalent experience
Spanish language proficiency
Previous harvest experience
Strong interest in Viticulture career
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
$23 hourly rate
Eligible for health benefits
Eligible for holiday and vacation benefits
Housing or housing stipend provided depending on location
