Job Description:
Blackbird Vineyards is looking for cellar interns to join the 2022 harvest. If you are not afraid of getting dirty and willing to work long hours when needed, we’re willing to teach you how to craft amazing 90+ point wines. Starting from vines to barrel, you’ll be an integral part of every step of the process. We’re looking for driven individuals to get dirty, listen to great music, laugh and be part of the entire harvest process as a member of the Blackbird Vineyards team.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Fruit processing
Punchdowns
Pumpovers
Additions
Pressing
Fermentation monitoring
Lab analysis(no science background necessary, we will train if needed)
The position is seasonal and will start in August and can last through December. Exact start and end dates are depending on harvest conditions. Hours can vary with the primary responsibilities of the position. Work will include weekends and overtime as needed. Workers must be able to work varied schedules as needed.
Minimum requirements:
US citizen with a valid US driver’s license and access to reliable transportation to and from the work site.
Blackbird Vineyards is unable to host international interns at this time.
Must be 21 years of age or older.
High School or equivalent education.
Previous harvest/winery experience is preferred but not required.
Must be available to work from August through December.
Available to work a varied schedule during harvest season as needed.
Accuracy with numbers and strong recordkeeping skills.
Basic computer proficiency.
Attention to detail and ability to perform repetitive tasks as needed.
Must be able to climb stairs, stoop, bend, and lift.
Must be able to stand or sit for extended periods of time.
Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
Work environment contains:
Exposure to loud noises, wet surfaces, varying temperatures, dust, fumes, toxic chemicals, operating mechanical equipment, stairs, ladders.
