Job Description Hanzell vineyards is looking for a motivated, multi-talented, flexible person to join our small team to assist in every aspect of creating the finest pinot noir and chardonnay (and a little cab too!). This is an entry level position so we are looking for someone with a passion for wine making and grape growing at the highest levels who wants to gain experience in all areas of production including cellar, laboratory, vineyard and farming. Winery:In the winery duties include assisting the cellar master with all aspects of cellar work. This includes but is not limited to: assisting in wine movements, additions, filtration, washing, setting and maintaining barrels, regular topping of wines in barrel, monitoring head space in partial tanks, all aspects of sanitation, general cleanliness of the winery and cave. Participate as part of the bottling team. Laboratory:Assist associate winemaker in all analysis as needed. Sample for analysis and tastings. Participate in production tastings. Vineyard and farm:In the vineyard responsibilities include but are not limited to: Cluster counts, lag phase weights, grape maturity sampling, monitoring the irrigation system, monitoring for pests and diseases, gopher abatement, assist in care of farm animals. (Currently this includes: sheep, pigs, chickens, geese, dogs and cats.) Job Type Production. Full time, permanent. Pay Range DOI Start Date Immediate End Date Other Information Qualifications: Candidate must have at least one year prior cellar and vineyard experience. Be able to lift and carry 50 lbs. Be able to work extended hours and weekends when necessary. Be able to drive a fork lift or to be trained to drive a forklift. Be able to follow a work order and record data.
